CHINPRACHA HOUSE PHUKET
One of the oldest and most beautiful Sino Portuguese Mansions in Phuket is Chinpracha house. It is over 100 years old and was built in 1903 by Prapitak Chinpracha.
Most of the furniture belonged to his ancestors from China, the fences are from Holland and the marble floors from Italy. Chinpracha House is beautifully maintained and listed as one of Thailand’s National Heritages by the Nations Fine Arts Department.
I love going to Chinpracha House and over the years have seen couples having their traditional wedding photos taken and young girls being photographed in traditional clothing.
But I would have to say the highlight was finally meeting the beautiful Khun Daeng who is a direct descendant of the original owner of Chinpracha House and she still lives upstairs, this is why only the ground floor is open to the public.
Did you know this house was also used in the movie Heaven and Earth with Oliver Stone. Entry fee is 150baht. Baan Chinpracha is at 98 Krabi Road Phuket Town, next door to the Blue Elephant restaurant and would be perfect to include in a Phuket day trip.
