FLOATING RESTAURANT
Chum Chon Floating Restaurant is near Bang Rong Pier in the north east of Phuket Island. To reach this fantastic family run restaurant you walk along a rickety wooden walkway through the mangroves.
It can be a little bit difficult getting on or off the floating restaurant due to some of the walkway collapsing but hopefully this has been repaired.
The menu is extensive, the food is delicious, and the staff carry slingshots to scare away the crab eating macaques if they come to close to customers. They do not hurt the monkeys at all and just use the slingshots to flick rolled up balls of paper at them.
Chum Chon Floating Restaurant is sometimes called Bang Rong Restaurant and is about a 50minute drive from Patong depending on traffic. To get there take the road that goes towards Ao Por, go past the turn off to Bang Pae Waterfall on your left.
Then after about a kilometer you will see the turnoff on your right to Bang Rong Pier, there is a Mosque on the corner. Turn here and you will come to the pier and see the walkway through the mangroves to the restaurant.
