KHUN PHA BBQ RESTAURANT RAWAI BEACH
At the eastern end of Rawai Beach there is a small Sea Gypsy Village, the people there were once a nomadic fishing community, however now they rely heavily on tourists.
There are plenty of shops in the village selling thousands of various shell products and there is also a small fresh seafood market along with a few restaurants. You can buy your seafood here at very cheap prices then take it over to one of the restaurants to be cooked.
You will mainly see tourists at all the restaurants but it is still worth a visit.
Each time we have been here we have purchased our seafood from the market sellers then taken it over to Khun Pha restaurant to be cooked. You do not have to do this as they have a full menu with Thai and Western dishes that you can also choose from.
Everything we have bought at the seafood markets on numerous occasions then had cooked at Khun Pha BBQ Restaurant has been delicious, except for one dish! We took some friends for dinner and Gary and our friend chose some squid from the fresh seafood markets then had it cooked 2 different ways.
Well both were shocking, the worst dishes we have ever ordered in Thailand. The squid was not edible, it was cut very thick and was like a solid piece of rubber. Both dishes looked very nice just a shame they could not be eaten.
However, we have not let that stop us going back to Khun Pha as everything else they have cooked for us over the years has been perfect.
