PHANG NGA BAY BY SPEED BOAT
PHUKET SAIL TOURS
I have been on the Phang Nga Bay by Speedboat tour with Phuket Sail Tours many times and it is one of my favourite ways to spend the day.
The order of the places you will go to is dependent on tides and this is one of the few boat tours that include a visit to the beautiful islands of Krabi Province for swimming and snorkelling. We visited beautiful hongs and caves around Phanak Island and there is also canoeing through a stunning mangrove forest and I have yet to see any other tourists there, so it is extremely peaceful and relaxing.
My favourite part of the day is when we arrive at Koh Panyee the village on stilts for the most delicious lunch, so many choices and so much food, we had soups, chicken dishes, rice dishes, vegetables, omelette’s, whole fish, prawns, crabs and seafood dishes.
After lunch, you can walk around the village, this is my favourite part of the tour. I really enjoy seeing how the people of Koh Panyee spend their days, like the very old man making shrimp paste who also sells bottles of orange juice, or the old lady laying out her dried chilies, or seeing children at school.
The people who live here are lovely, so friendly and always smiling. I love seeing the famous football field, I have left the link to a fantastic you tube video on how the floating football field came into being. It is quite a story!
There is one lady on Koh Panyee who always amazes me, she is not sure of her age but thinks she is around 86, her husband who she married when she was 16 died earlier in 2012. You will often see her sitting in the entrance to her house. This lovely lady has 12 children, 30 odd grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
Over the years, I bout up a lovely friendship with this beautiful lady and sadly she passed away late 2014. I will treasure forever the beautiful strand of pearls and earrings she gave me not long before.
Back on the boat we motor off a short way and stop to look at cave paintings that are thought to be around 1800 years old, just amazing!!
I cannot recommend a day out with Phuket Sail Tours highly enough. Mark and his team are absolute professionals and extremely knowledgeable about all the areas you will visit, safety is a major factor and so is your stomach!!
Fantastic food, snacks and drinks seem to appear all day long so you most definitely will not go hungry on this tour. There is an unlimited supply of food during the day, the famous crunchy chicken wings, Kanom (Thai snacks) which are my favourite treats of sticky rice, banana, black bean wrapped in banana leaf, fresh fruits, cheese and biscuits, plus water and soft drinks.
You will see amazing sights that will stay with you forever and have so much fun with new friends and the crew from Phuket Sail Tours.
Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to make sure everyone has an enjoyable day away from the hordes of big jam packed boats.
So, if you’re looking for a great value day out with a small group of people then look up Phuket Sail Tours.
